Guide
Everything you need to know about using Composer to get more done.
Getting Started
Composer is a desktop application that lets you work alongside AI agents. These agents can edit Word and Markdown documents, fill out PDF forms, and automate repetitive tasks.
To get started, download the app for your platform (macOS, Windows, or Linux) and sign in with your account. Once you're in, you'll see your desktop with a chat interface on the side.
Simply describe what you want to do in natural language. For example: “Fill out this tax form with my information” or “Create a summary of this PDF document.”
System Requirements
We recommend at least 8GB of RAM and about 500MB of free disk space on all platforms.
macOS
macOS 12.0 or later on Apple Silicon or Intel. Use the Mac build that matches your processor from the download page.
Windows
Windows 10 (64-bit) or later, or Windows 11 (64-bit). Install the Windows build from the download page.
Linux
64-bit x86_64 with a recent glibc (for example Ubuntu 22.04 or later, Fedora 38 or later, or Debian 12 or later).
Features
Document Editing
Composer can open and edit Word documents, maintaining formatting and styles. It can rewrite sections, fix grammar, translate content, or restructure entire documents based on your instructions.
PDF Forms
One of our most popular features. Composer can fill out PDF forms intelligently, understanding field labels and context. It works with tax forms, applications, contracts, and more.
Markdown & DOCX
Compose in Markdown with rich structure—headings, lists, tables, and code—then switch to Word-compatible DOCX when you need print-ready layouts and tracked changes.
Background Agents
With Pro plans, you can run agents in the background. Start a task, continue with your work, and get notified when it's complete—ideal for long documents or multi-step PDF and editing workflows.
Privacy & Security
Your documents are processed securely and are not stored on our servers after processing. We use end-to-end encryption for all file transfers.
Composer never accesses files without your explicit action. The agent can only see and modify files you specifically open or reference in the conversation.
